The Prophesied One -Advent Week One

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

The first week of advent is all about hope. Much like today the world was in chaos with no chance of being reconciled to God in its own strength. Some may have realized the signs in the Mosaic law revealed a Savior. Still, the law could never save, only point the way. True prophets, like Isaiah, were trumpets of hope announcing the coming fulfillment of prophecy. Christ. He would come in the form of a helpless child, grow to be a man, and live without ever sinning despite being tempted in every way. (Hebrews 14:5)
It is only fitting for the first week of Advent to bring light into the darkness with the lighting of the first candle.

Reflect on:
The ways Christ brings hope to the world, and to your life.
Search:
The Word for other prophecies about Christ’s birth.
Pray:
Ask God to use His Word to fill you will hope for every difficult situation in your life, community, and the world.
